Failla was arrested after an investigation revealed that she had maintained ongoing sexual relationship with at least three students. Court documents include an allegation that Failla would send text messages to students one by one to come between class times to her classroom, where Once there, she would orally pleasure the students.
The coach overheard a student in the locker room saying that Amber Failla had given a blowjob to one of his friends. The 17-year-old later admitted that it happened during a soccer game, in her math classroom. Faill also worked as a CCHS cheerleading asst. coach, and her daughter is a former cheerleader. The teen boy also claimed they engage in sex acts in a car. The 16-year-old told police that one day Failla texted him to meet her in her classroom where she performed oral sex on him. One of the teens told to investigators that Failla grabbed his hand and put them on her breasts and said, “this is like candy to me.”
The teens claim that Failla would send them pictures of her breasts and sometimes pictures of her genitalia. California City police searched Failla’s home and reported they seized computers and cellphones.
Failla pleaded no contest to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse, and multiple counts of oral copulation and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense were dismissed.
Defense attorney Timothy Lemucchi said Failla is bipolar, and she was given a drug that has a side effect of making a person “hyperactively sexual.” Lemucchi said Failla was the recipient of poor medical treatment in that she wasn’t given a second drug to counteract those effects.
Amber Failla is scheduled for sentencing in May.
