Beulah Nicole “Nikki” Sumner, 36-year-old teacher formerly at Warren East High School, Warren County, Kentucky, has been sentenced to six years in prison and was ordered to register as a sexoffender for 20 years.
Sumner plead guilty last July to six counts of first degree sexual abuse – the counts stem from her consensual sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student at Warren East High School.
Sumner had admitted the sexual relationship to the Bowling Green Police Department, stating to a detective that she and the student had intercourse in a motel room in Bowling Green and engaged in kissing and touching to the point of sex in her car on other occasions.
Sumner also provided a cell phone to the student, and sent sexually explicit text messages to the teenager on that phone.
Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney Chris Cohron argued that Sumner’s actions were a repeated violation of trust by someone in a position of authority at the school.
Since getting caught for sexual relationship with the young boy, Beulah Sumner has divorced her husband and lost custody of her two children.
