Kimberly Sauto, 34-year-old tap dancing teacher from Summit County, Ohio, who was found guilty in Januaray of unlawful sexual conduct with a 15-year-old, has been sentenced to one year in prison.
Sauto, a married mother of two, told investigators that she was in love the North Ridgeville, Ohio boy whom she'd met at her own tap dancing class. Sauto claimed that she had kissed the victim and communicated with him on a regular basis, but that she never performed sex acts on boy or had sexual intercourse with him. The victim testified otherwise. telling investigators The two had sex several times. Presiding Judge Judy Howell said that Sauto "continued to have sexual fantasies about the victim" and admitted to "pleasuring herself" during the fantasies as late as Feb. 10 after she was reported to cops. Sauto was turned in by her husband who found condoms in his wife's dance bag, and text messages between her and the victim, who he knew was a student in Sauto's tap dancing class.
Sauto, who has two young sons, wept in court as she was sentenced having been found guilty of one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
The victim and his family were not in court for Sauto’s sentencing but in a letter read by Victim Services worker Maureen Vos, the boy’s mother asked the judge to impose the harshest sentence provided by law.
Under Ohio sentencing law, the maximum penalty for Sauto’s third-degree felony conviction is five years. Summit County Assistant Prosecutor Aaron Howell asked Common Pleas Judge Judy Hunter for a four-year sentence, noting that Sauto gave alcohol to the boy in the time leading up to the offense. Sauto was only sentenced to one year as she was a first-time offender with no previous run-ins with the law.
